Wartburg professor Rev. Dr. Fred Strickert accepted a position with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Thursday.
Strickert will be working with the Global Mission unit of the ELCA and serving as Special Assistant to the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Holy Land and Jordan and as Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jerusalem.
Dr. Strickert’s scholarly interests in the middle east date back many years including research on Bethsaida. He is a regular contributor to the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and has written a variety of popular articles on the middle east.
He has served as the chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department, the Harry and Polly Slife Professor in the Humanities and as Co-Director of Global and Multicultural Studies. Dr. Strickert has served on the faculty of Wartburg College since 1986.
