The Wartburg men’s golf team finished tied for fourth at the Wartburg Spring Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Course last weekend.
The team finished with a two-day score of 605, finsishing 18 strokes behind champion Nebraska Wesleyan University. Wartburg tied for fourth with Iowa Western Community College.
Cory Tilson was the top finisher for the Knights. Tilson finished 10th overall with a 3-over 147. Tilson was also the only Knight to par the course in the second round on Sunday.
In second place for the team, Chris Bushbaum finished tied for 17th. Bushbaum finished with a 6-over 150.
In third for Wartburg was Clint Donovan, who tied for 47th. Donovan finished with a 13-over 157.
After having the best score on Saturday, shooting a 2-over 74, Michael Dominick shot an 84 on Sunday to finish with a 14-over 158 and finish tied for 53rd.
Jeremy Carper was the final finisher for Wartburg. Carper finished tied for 58th with a 15-over 159.
On April 5-6, the Knights finished fourth at the Loras Spring Invitational at the Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta and the Meadows Golf Course in Asbury.
Wartburg finished with a two day total of 621, 24 shots behind Invitational winner the University of Wisconsin- Stout.
Dominick was the top finisher for Wartburg. He finished 7-over par, with a two day score of 150. His score was best for a tie in fifth.
Tilson finished 11th with a 10-over 153. Bushbaum was behind Tilson, finishing in a tie for 12th with a 12-over 15.
This Friday and Saturday, Wartburg travels to Storm Lake to participate in the Buena Vista Beaver Classic, which will be held at the Lake Creek Country Club.
