“Culture Week” implies the active collaboration of various cultures present at Wartburg College and the engagement of these cultures with the broader community.
It is the week each year that provides a platform for international students to display their talents and share their national culture with the Waverly and Wartburg communities. It is the week that expresses the desire of international students to share their culture and create a broader awareness of the cultural diversity present here at Wartburg.
Culture Week is a joint effort of primarily the International Student Programs Office, the International Club and the international student body in general.
The program is organized for a week consisting of two major events starting with the Culture Fair and culminating with the Culture Performances. Other activities planned during the week.
Culture Week provides international students a venue to share each of our unique cultures and traditions and the effect of the event is often to rekindle the joys and memories of our home country.
We share a high level of delight and excitement in putting forth our effort and hard work to provide our new Wartburg “home” with a week full of learning and adventure.
Culture Week at Wartburg College is the only place where the Wartburg and Waverly communities can experience the culture of over 30 countries under one roof.
The immense contribution of International Programs and International Club provides an opportunity for the community to learn about other cultures through food, music, displays and dance. Moreover, this event also enriches Wartburg College with additional adventure, knowledge and experience and provides a glimpse into the often latent cultural diversity present here at Wartburg.
“Active, Live, Culture” is the theme of this year’s Culture Week and it allows students, faculty and staff to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of foreign lands.
Sunday’s kickoff event of Culture Week 2010 was a Culture Fair that included a table fair, games, displays and food.
Culture Week culminates with a grand performance night on March 27 in Neumann Auditorium where the night will be dazzled by the talents of international students.
These past years, Culture Week has been adorned with immense success and this was not possible without the interest of the Wartburg and Waverly communities.
Following the tradition, this year international students have put in vast amounts of effort and dedication in presenting the world at Wartburg College.
Hence, I urge each and every person to come and be part of this miraculous event, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Knights Ballroom and March 27 for the Culture Performance in Neumann Auditorium. Come and witness the blending of all the world cultures together as it is indescribable and can only be experienced personally.
