President & Vice President Minimize

Trevor Carolan and MacKenzie Benson

Trevor Carolan is a political science major from Charles City, Iowa, and is serving as Student Body Vice-President this year. This is his third year on Senate.  During the 2008-2009 school year, Trevor served as Student Body Recorder. He is a three-year member of the Wartburg Choir, and has been a member of the Ritterchor men’s choir, and Chapel Choir at Wartburg.  Trevor also studies voice and organ.  He has been a member of the Wartburg Democrats and has been involved with Orange EXCELeration as an orientation leader for the past two years.  As President of the Senate and Vice President of the Student Body he is responsible for leading weekly Senate meetings, assisting President Nadipuram with his duties and overseeing the standing committees. Trevor would like to attend law school after graduating.

MacKenzie Benson is a 2nd year political science and psychology major with leadership and business administration minors. This year, as her second year being a part of senate, MacKenzie has served as Academic Ombudsperson on the Senate executive team and also serves on Educational Policies Committee and Honor Council. Last year, MacKenzie was a senator and hall council chair. MacKenzie also serves as Vice President for Ambassadors, Social Co-Chair for Phi Eta Sigma, a CAP Mentor, Peer Helpers, and participates in Service Trips and Homecoming Committee as well as being involved with other campus organizations. After graduating, MacKenzie hopes to go to law school.

If elected for President and Vice-President, Trevor and MacKenzie would like to focus on moving forward with initiatives. Platforms include: working to get wireless internet in the lounges of residence halls; continue to improve communication between Senate and the student body by utilizing student media organizations; facilitate organizations communicating and collaborating more effectively; and continue the energy-saving initiative.

Recorder Minimize

Hollis Hanson-Pollock

I am currently planning to major in business administration and obtain minors in political science, Spanish and leadership. This year I have greatly enjoyed my experiences on Student Senate, and I have made it my extracurricular priority at Wartburg. I have been fortunate enough to serve on the Academic Policies Committee, the Senate Review Committee and the Campus Appeals Board. My senior year of high school I served as Student Council President and National Honor Society Treasurer, and I was Student Council Secretary my junior year. I love being a part of Student Senate and would like to further my responsibilities within the organization as Student Body Recorder.

If elected Student Body Recorder, I will continue to improve overall communication between the Senate and the Student Body. This can be accomplished by continuing to utilize the senate website and student media, such as the Circuit and the Trumpet.

Adamu Muhammad

I was born and raised in Nigeria. I am Biochemistry major and a Leadership Certificate minor. I have been an active participant in my high school which climaxed to my election as the President of the Student Body, amongst other things which include but not limited to clubs and community engagements. On a college level, I wrote for the Trumpet for a Semester. I am an active participant of International Club and lastly I am a Senator representing Centennial First Floor.  If elected, I will continue to support the programs started by the current administration which include but not limited to the Going Green programs on campus, early compilation of student friendly meeting reports and host of other students issues.

I have three other siblings; a sister and two brothers. I love history and animated movies. I am deeply connected to my past because they shaped the way I am and at the same time, I am a strong believer in positive change. I hope to go to medical school and specialize in Pediatrics to help children in third world countries.

Treasureer Minimize

 Kevin Schneider

Kevin Schneider is a natural leader.  He is personable, motivated, focused, and works well with all people.  Kevin is not afraid to talk to someone he doesn't know or someone who is different from him.  In high school Kevin was the team captain on the wrestling team and led them to a conference and regional runner-up finish and also to the state wrestling duals.  Kevin was the vice-president of his high school choir and was also named the outstanding musical student of his high school.  He qualified for numerous all-state performances and was labeled by some to be "the best of class".  Kevin was a model for others as a student who was involved in most everything the school offered as an activity.  Kevin also showed his scholarly leadership as a member of the National Honor Society.

Kevin has very good listening skills, and is able to listen to others very well.  Kevin's hobbies include singing, playing guitar, wrestling, lifting, and running.  Kevin has also had the unique experience of beekeeping during the summer.  As his employer I hold nothing back in recommending him as one of the most inquisitive, hardworking young people I have known.

David Nelson

I am currently planning on pursuing a degree in Economics and Political Science. In senate this year I have served on Student Relations Committee and Senate Review Committee as a first year Senator. I have also served as a Hall Council Chair for the Clinton-Founders Hall Council.  I was recently appointed chair of the Student Senate ITS Task Force and look forward to acting as a sounding board for student issues that may arise and relaying them to ITS.  I have greatly enjoyed pursuing the goals of my constituency and the Wartburg student body by bringing their ideas to the Wartburg Student Senate.

If elected treasurer of the senate, I would like to broaden the goals of the Readership Account, and more efficiently allocate the resources available to student organizations.
